THE MANAGEMENT TEAM
Mr. Steven Sell started Health Care Managers, Inc. in 1984 for the purpose of owning, developing, and managing nursing homes. In his 31 years of operating, Mr. Sell has experienced much success in the senior living business. During this time, he has negotiated the purchase of Rosewood Nursing Home, demolished the facility and built Lanier Manor. He earned a certificate of need and built Hilliard Manor following a failed attempt by others to complete the project in Hilliard, Florida. A similar effort was accomplished in Lake City, Florida where he added 60 beds and a rehabilitation wing at Baya Pointe Rehabilitation. Other facilities started from the group include Osprey Point, a 60 bed skilled nursing facility in Bushnell, Florida, Amelia Trace Assisted Living in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Additionally, in 2010 Mr. Sell developed Mission Oaks, a 74 bed assisted living facility in Oxford, Florida and added 32 beds in 2014. In October of 2015 he opened a 94 bed assisted living facility, The Palms at Ponte Vedra. The Palms at Ponte Vedra is a recent recipient of the Grand Aurora award which recognized the facility as the top Assisted Living Facility by the Southeastern Builders Conference. Mr. Sell purchased Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 2002. In 2006, Mr. Sell added 62 beds and a rehabilitation wing to Lakeside Nursing Center. Park Ridge Nursing facility, a 104 bed skilled nursing facility in Jacksonville was purchased in 2001 and was completely remodeled. Lakeside, Baya Pointe, and Osprey Pointe have all been awarded 5 stars by the state of Florida under the nursing home rating system.
Chief Operating Officer, Robert Mead, graduated from the University of North Florida with a degree in Health Care Administration and has 23 years experience in the Health Care Industry. Robert is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and previously licensed as a Health Care Risk Manager. He also is trained as an Assisted Living Administrator. In 1999, Mr Mead opened Osprey Point Nursing Center for Health Care Managers. Osprey won a number of awards and was deficiency free for several years. During his tenure at Osprey Point, the facility was received the coveted 5 star rating each year. After his tenure as admistrator at Baya Point, he was promoted to Regional Vice President and then to Chief Operating Officer in 2006.
Chief Financial Officer, Ivonne Burrell, has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami and Master of Business administration from Barry University. She began her employment with HCM in 2004. She is responsible for compiling financial statements, cash management systems, managing employee benefit plans and all areas of financial responsibility.
Chief Information officer, Aaron Morgan, Graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Aviation Management. After an extensive career in aviation as a corporate pilot, Aaron joined the Health Care Managers team in 2016. He currently oversees corporate policy, company safety programs, electronic data retention, and corporate Human Resouces.
Regional Business Officer, Annesley Brightwell, graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Accounting and has a post graduate degree in Finance. She began employment in 2000 as a business manager for a 104 bed nursing home under management of HCM. In 2008, she was promoted to her current position.
Regional Nurse Consultant, Rhonda Desourdy, graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island and has worked as a Registered Nurse in Long Term/Skilled Nursing Care, Assisted Living, and Clinical Consulting for 30 years. Rhonda is a licensed Florida Health Care Risk Manager and Infection Preventionist. She joined the Health Care Managers team as the Director of Nursing at one of Health Care Manager’s managed facilities and was promoted in 2013 to her current position. She oversees the daily clinical operations, coordinates continuous improvement projects with the facility Nursing Directors, establishes and maintains nursing policies and procedures, monitors, educates, maintains all clinical programs and documents for the electronic health records, and oversees Quality Assurance Performance Improvement for the nursing departments.
